Black Isle Media is a totally independent news organisation. We have no billionaire backers or vested interests. As such, we rely solely on donations and sponsors to continue to operate.
Our Owner Alex Tiffin has taken a new and innovative approach to reporting. His research found less than 67% of people who shared one of our articles online, actually read it. Aa part of a way to increase news intake, Alex and our Political Editor Charlotte, have embarked on a year long trial of reporting directly to Twitter. Early results have shown a massive increase in people reading and understanding the news they put out.
While we are ecstatic that more people are getting into the news, it has had a knock on effect on our funding. As a result, we have both fallen to being virtually unpaid some months.
However, just because we report in Twitter, doesn’t mean we just report the catchy parts of a story, we cover it ALL with in-depth graphics and sources too.
